Eagle Street Pier has transformed Brisbane’s harbour into an iconic waterfront precinct. Post a revamp in 2011, the Pier has become a popular Australian entertainment and hospitality services hotspot.
Nestled within the Eagle Street Pier ferry wharf is George’s Paragon Seafood Restaurant. Its exemplary fusion of pleasant ambience, sleek interior design, clear-cut open spaces, aesthetically appealing white-blue colour coding, and glass façade offering spectacular views of Kangaroo Point cliffs and the Story Bridge make George's Paragon one of the most sought after dining places in Brisbane, Australia.
It therefore comes as no surprise that George’s Paragon decided that in order to complement its location, there was a need to have an aesthetically designed yet comfortable outdoor seating area for its patrons. Melanie Binny, George’s Paragon Manager, explains the need for such a space: “Our outdoor area is very important to us as it is at the front of the restaurant and it has the best views.”
The ‘traditional mushroom style’ free standing gas heaters that George’s Paragon previously used were not only an aesthetics killer but also blocked the views to the harbour. Bromic’s Smart-Heat™ range of heaters provided with the ideal solution.
“The Smart-Heat™ range heaters have complemented the restaurant as they are subtle enough to be powerful yet not block any of the views from the restaurant. The height at which they are attached at, provide warmth to the areas, yet customers do not realise that they are there until they feel the warmth and look up. This is why we like the heaters,” tells Melanie.
The type of heater that the restaurant chose from Bromic’s range was the Tungsten Smart-Heat™ Electric Heater. It is an infrared electric heater with exceptional features such as heat coverage of up-to 15m². The heater also aces in the design department with smooth lines and quality finishes. The Tungsten Electric comes in four models, and George’s Paragon installed the 4Kw model.
Melanie explains the reason behind choosing the Tungsten Smart-Heat™ Electric Heater: “The designs of the heaters, the heating strength and the electrical option as opposed to gas were the deciding factors.”
“We chose the electric option as we have seen in other establishments the use of gas heaters and how they can blow out with a strong wind. As we are at a higher level above the river we are prone to breeze and we did not want this to occur to us so we chose the electric and it has been beneficial to us,” she further explains the benefits of Tungsten Smart-Heat™ Electric.
In addition to countering strong winds, Bromic’s electric heaters are also suited to deliver warmth under cold winter conditions.
“When patrons are hesitant to sit outside if they think it is going to be too cold, 9 times out of 10, they will sit outside once they feel the warmth from the (Bromic Smart-Heat™) heaters,” tells Melanie.
“The Smart-Heat™ heaters have two elements and we find that we only have to use one element at a time, and for Brisbane nights this is sufficient,” continues Melanie. “It is only during the winter months when there is a bit of breeze, that we use the second element (that) helps counteract this and provide the warmth that we require for our customers,” she further adds.
Based on the success of the heaters at George’s Paragon, Melanie also has advice for other businesses: “Since installing the Bromic heaters, we have not had any maintenance issues and rarely use the second element. The positioning of these Bromic heaters (aide) our customers (to) sit comfortably at every table on our balcony.”
