“We’ve been trading for about 12-years now,” begins Justin, General Manager at the iconic Manly Wharf Hotel. “Prior to that, the wharf itself was a bit of a hovel. I think there was a carousel out on the jetty and pinball machines where our cocktail bar is now; it was a mismatched sort of place. We’ve since renovated to become the Manly Wharf Hotel; a venue with an extremely laid-back, beachy vibe that has adopted a Hamptons sort of style, inspired by the famous Montauk Beach House. The locals love it, and the last year was our biggest, so we’re still in growth, which is great!”
“The outdoor areas we have are extremely important to our venue,” Justin continues. “If we have a rainy or a cold day, we can basically drop 50% of trade, so a massive Saturday will just literally halve, maybe even more! We’ve had exposed-element heaters in the past, but they just weren’t as effective as our new Platinum Smart-Heat™ Electrics. If you were directly underneath one of the old heaters, they would cook you. You’d notice you’d have no patrons at the tables directly under the heaters but if you weren’t under one, you’d freeze. They’d all be grouped further away from the heaters in an attempt to find a spot where they were comfortable.”
“During my time here and history in hospitality; I’ve had to work with heaters that were too hot, not hot enough or didn’t cover the required area evenly, but that’s never been an issue I’ve had with Bromic,” explains Justin. “I was the licensee at Ivy for 7-years, a massive venue with an entirely open air rooftop bar where heating output had been a real issue. I was really impressed by Bromic’s ability to come up with a solution that gave us enough heating so that even when it was freezing cold, the whole outdoor space was beautifully heated. When I joined the Manly Wharf Hotel, they’d been struggling with heating since the beginning and they needed a change, so it was obvious that I’d call Bromic Heating.”
