A view from the Gazebo
There is something innately appealing about the idea of escaping the hustle and bustle of the city streets to enjoy a refreshing drink and a delicious meal in the afternoon sun or under the night’s sky. For Andy Roberts, Commercial Manager of the popular bar and restaurant Basalt, the addition of a unique outdoor dining space was the key to providing this experience for their establishment.
“Actually there was no roof top or second story level at all,” Andy noted. “So we wanted to effectively increase the footprint of the bar and also create a roof top pub, which we thought would be well embraced by the locals.”
For the locals of the charming Auckland suburb of Howick, Basalt has been a popular community institution for over 10 years. So when designing the new rooftop bar Gazebo from scratch, it was integral to consider a solution that would be immediately inviting to both new and established customers.
“The heating is a pretty important part of [the outside area] to make sure you can use it 24/7, 365 days of the year,” Andy continues. “The weather’s not that great over here at times [and] you’ve really got to be able to heat up that space so that people can still get out there and use it.” After seeing the heaters in action, Andy settled on the Tungsten Smart-Heat Electric model from Bromic, noting that “the performance of the heaters was very good and aesthetically they were quite good too.”
By not sacrificing aesthetics for function, Bromic provided an efficient design that was the perfect solution for Gazebo. “Heating is one of those things that you’ve really got to have but you don’t want everybody to notice”, Andy points out. “You want it to be fairly minimal in its presence…and [Bromic] heaters do that for us.”
It’s clear then that Bromic heaters are playing their part in complimenting the stunning, unobstructed views of the surrounding area and providing year round comfort, helping Gazebo live up to their tagline of “Beer & Food In All Its Glory”
